What Are ClearCorrect Aligners?

ClearCorrect aligners are an alternative to traditional braces. Instead of metal brackets and wires, ClearCorrect uses clear plastic aligners to move your teeth. It’s very similar to Invisalign, but Dr. Tucker prefers ClearCorrect.

Benefits of ClearCorrect Aligners

ClearCorrect aligners are a great alternative to traditional braces. People often enjoy ClearCorrect aligners:

  • Don’t make it harder to clean your teeth
  • Are nearly invisible
  • Are removable
  • Let you eat all your favorite foods
  • Work with dental restorations
  • Work as quickly as traditional braces

The transparent plastic in ClearCorrect aligners is nearly invisible. Even if people stand close to you and watch your mouth when you speak, they likely won’t see the aligners. Plus, aligners are removable. For special occasions, like public appearances, photo ops, and intimate dates, you can remove your aligners if you worry they might be a problem.

Traditional braces are hard to clean around. This can increase your risk of cavities and gum disease. With removable ClearCorrect aligners, keeping your teeth clean and healthy is as easy as ever. Because foods can get trapped in braces or damage them, you often have to give up many foods you enjoy. It’s not just treats, either. You’ll also have to give up some healthy foods like raw carrots. With ClearCorrect aligners, you can keep eating the full range of your diet.

ClearCorrect aligners can often be a better choice if you have dental restorations. A bracket bonded to a veneer, crown, or filling can damage the restoration or come off. ClearCorrect aligners put pressure evenly on the whole tooth so it can move without damage to the restoration.

Plus, ClearCorrect aligners usually work just as fast as traditional braces. However, ClearCorrect isn’t suitable for all orthodontic cases. Dr. Tucker will let you know if you’re a good candidate for ClearCorrect.

How Do ClearCorrect Aligners Work?

ClearCorrect aligners use the same basic principle as traditional braces. Steady pressure on your teeth will cause your body to reshape the bones around your teeth. This allows your teeth to move. However, ClearCorrect applies the force differently.

Traditional braces have brackets bonded to your teeth that attach to a guide wire. The guidewire pulls on the brackets, which pull on the teeth. ClearCorrect uses clear plastic aligners that push on the tooth to move it into position.

During your consultation, Dr. Tucker will evaluate your smile to see if it’s a good candidate for ClearCorrect. If it is, he’ll scan your teeth. Then he’ll send this tooth scan to ClearCorrect, where a computer will design a precise sequence of movements to achieve the straight teeth you desire. Each of these movements is translated into a clear plastic aligner. Starting with the first aligner, you’ll wear each aligner until it achieves its desired tooth movement. When you reach the end of your aligner sequence, your teeth will be straight.

How to Get the Best Results with ClearCorrect Aligners

ClearCorrect aligners are easy to use, but there are a few tips to follow to ensure you get the best treatment results.

First, follow all of Dr. Tucker’s instructions. Wear your aligners for at least 20 hours daily, and it’s best to wear them for 22 hours daily. Only take them out for eating and cleaning your teeth most days. Remove your aligners infrequently and for brief periods of time.

Don’t eat with your aligners in, and drink only water. Food and beverages can cause your aligners to stain and pick up odors. Make sure you clean your teeth properly before putting your aligners back in.

Wear each aligner according to Dr. Tucker’s instructions. It may take a few weeks for each aligner to achieve its goal. Dr. Tucker will let you know when you can move to the next aligner. Don’t try to rush your treatment. This can reduce the effectiveness of treatment.

After treatment is complete, wear your retainers as directed. As long as you wear your retainers according to instructions, you can enjoy your results for life.
