A Pioneering Sleep Facility
Under the innovative leadership of Dr. Tucker, Tucker Dental Excellence has become an industry-leading center for dental sleep medicine. Dr.Tucker has been treating sleep apnea patients in the Tri-State Erie area since the founding of Erie Dental Sleep Therapy in 2007. Dr. Tucker was the first and remains the only dentist in the Tri-State Erie area certified by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). When Erie Dental Sleep Therapy achieved AADSM accreditation, it was just the 8th facility in the nation to achieve that credential. In 2021, Dr. Tucker became the first dentist credentialed by Inspire Medical Systems to treat sleep apnea with hypoglossal nerve stimulation.
Dr. Tucker’s Inspire credentials indicate his interdisciplinary approach to sleep apnea treatment. He works closely with sleep physicians and sleep centers to help every patient get the treatment approach that’s ideal for them. He provides oral appliance therapy when appropriate but refers patients for CPAP or other treatment modalities when that’s their best option.
Outstanding TMJ Care
Dr. Tucker is also passionate about treating temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ or TMD). His goal is always to minimize pain and other symptoms, helping patients avoid surgery.
Dr. Tucker delivers TMJ treatment based on your personal physiology. He does this using a technique called heart rate variability or HRV. With this non-surgical TMJ treatment, Dr. Tucker determines the jaw position that is right for you, promoting physiologic rest and healing.
Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry
Dr. Tucker helps his patients beautify and rebuild their smiles. He’s also an innovator in this area. He holds six dental patents, with several being utilized widely in this area of dentistry. He’s worked as a consultant for numerous dental supply companies, helping them to understand essential principles of implantology and prosthetic dentistry.
The University of Buffalo awarded Dr. Tucker a Certificate of Proficiency in Esthetic Dentistry, and he’s a diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Society of Osseointegration (the process by which dental implants fuse with your jawbone).
